A look back at some of this year’s most unique items sold.
Each year we sell tens of thousands of equipment items and trucks, but they’re not all created equal. Some items we sell are outside the norm and those items tend to catch the eye of bidders. We’ve compiled a short list of those eye-catching pieces. So, without further ado, five of the coolest machines we sold in 2019.
1. 1977 FOREMOST COMMANDER 6x6 Off Highway 360 In. WB Bed Truck
It’s not unusual to see a Foremost Commander come through our auctions in Edmonton. With the Oil & Gas industry nearby, these heavy haulers are pretty popular. This one was of the vintage variety, 1977, and sod for close to CA$300,000 on May 1.
2. 1988 BEECHCRAFT BEECHJET 400 N88UA 8 Seater Twin Engine Aircraft
Not everything we sell is work related. Well, you could argue this 1988 Beechjet could be used to attend work meetings, but something tells us the owner wanted a pleasure craft. It sold in Orlando on Nov 12 for $8,600.
3. KENWORTH T680 ‘EVERYDAY HEROES’ TRUCK
Out of the thousands of trucks that go through our auctions, this customized Kenworth T680 was something special. All the proceeds went to benefit Truckers Against Trafficking – a cause dedicated to stopping human trafficking. The winning bid was $162,000 – more than double what the truck sold for the previous year – and it sold in Phoenix last May.
4. Govplanet Tactical Vehicles
Last spring our military surplus solution GovPlanet began selling ITVs (Internally Transportable Vehicle) and MTVRs (Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement). These unique vehicles caused a lot of excitement because of how rare they are. You have to admit they look pretty cool!
5. 2002 AMERICAN LAFRANCE Eagle Crew Cab T/A Fire Truck
Remember when you were young and played with fire trucks? Now imagine buying a real one! No doubt the owner, who bought this 2002 American Lafrance fire truck at our Fort Worth auction in December, will have a real use for it – like putting out blazes.
